Collins Aerospace
A digitally enabled cabin should work better for everyone in it. With Collins Aerospace, Big Dreams explored how intelligence could support passengers, crew, and operations as one connected service environment. The work moved from scenarios and interface concepts to functional prototypes, including ADAPT™ and the galley.ai system.
Role: Product and service strategy, inclusive interface design, and functional prototyping.
2023–2025 · Passenger, crew, and cabin services
A cabin-service concept visualises how connected information could support crew and passenger interactions.
The starting point was human benefit, not a technology demonstration. Passengers needed a more personalised, integrated, and inclusive experience. Crew needed support in managing services, while operations needed better access to equipment and service information. Defining these distinct value propositions helped the team establish why a connected system mattered. Early representations served as a north star for stakeholder discussion, requirements, and coordinated development.
Big Dreams led iterative research, storytelling, interface design, and prototyping alongside the evolving cabin interior. Initial scenarios explored InteliSence™, an AI/ML system anticipating passenger needs. Work on ADAPT™ then went deeper into mobility, sensory, cognitive, and language accommodations. The Institute for Human Centered Design contributed accessibility expertise, and accessible-travel advocate John Morris advised on situations where digital systems could support physical service. For galley.ai, Big Dreams partnered with OCTO Product Development on a functioning prototype connecting galley equipment, crew tools, cabin interfaces, and passenger communication. The system brought orders, inventory, service updates, and equipment information into a connected workflow.

Early workshop sketches connect service timing, passenger requests, and communication across the cabin.

The ADAPT interface exploration formed part of the programme’s focus on personalised passenger experience.
The published account records a 2023 Crystal Cabin Award for the InteliSence prototype, an honourable mention in 2024 for the subsequent passenger-experience work, and the 2025 Cabin Technologies award for galley.ai. These milestones recognise prototype and concept work; they should not be read as claims of fleet-wide deployment. Across the programme, the focus remained on making complex cabin technology useful to the people it serves.
